Obituary Notice

Still in Chapter 1 of the book in which we are also asked to write an Obituary Notice about our life, write one we would like to read without thinking too much about it.. Seems kind of creepy but I would actually encourage anyone to do it.

Obituary Notice – Mark James – Dead at 90 – Buried at 90

Mark James was a humble Man of God, a loving Husband to Samantha and an equally loving Father to his Children. Mark and Samantha as well as the boys went through a transformation when Mark was in his early 40’s. He went through what he described as an ‘awakening.’ Through Inspire and various influential persons Mark was discovering that much of his life had been a lie and his mind was transformed. Mark was a man on a path toward Ordained Ministry although by his own admission Mark often struggled with this through his lack of worthiness, this of course went on to be the very essence of his life.

Mark went on to discovered what it meant to be a true follower of Jesus following a one year Journey called Inspire. Here Mark learnt what it meant to be a Human ‘being’ rather than a Human doing, a true spiritual reflection of the God who created him. Mark and his family embarked on an extraordinary journey in the second half of his life where countless people were saved from themselves, through his teaching, his clarity, his compassion and his love. Sam and the boys shared this wonderful journey with him and were as much a part of it as he was.

It started when he took what some considered a stupid tact and resigned from a well paid job knowing that it was not right for him. His Soul and spirit were meant for more and it was not until Mark became 40 that he realised this. Mark had never been a financially wealthy man and he had often struggled with the world’s view of how he should be. Mark was a simple man, he loved his God, he loved his family and he loved people, beyond that everything else were bonuses.

Mark was also a keen golfer and was very good at it; he loved to read, he loved to walk and be with nature, he loved to sail, and to fish. Mark went onto to write many best sellers including “The Journey” which topped many best selling charts around the world. Mark will also be remembered for his great sense of humour, his cooking and his love of fine wine.

When interviewed recently Mark was asked what the secret to life was, Mark replied with this verse. Do not conform to the patterns of this world but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, he also said that  Prayer was the key, an hour a day, everyday and when busy, two.

Mark firmly believed that the mind if left unchecked was man’s greatest enemy and Prayer provided a place to meditate and be with God. Imagine if Mark had not trusted in his spirit when he left his job all those years ago and had stayed in the same Job, unhappy, scared to change. The Obituary may have been very different indeed.
